First Show...Friends are there.
Two blog entries in ONE DAY! I know, it's too good to be true. I guess that goes to show how LONG this day felt. We had our first public performance tonight, and it went really well. Lamar and Melissa came, with several other people in tow (fiances, roommates, etc). And of course, like my friends and family always are, they were sitting smack dab in the front row. That's what happens when you have awesome friends that buy their tickets the first day they go on sale. :)
Melissa, Lamar and friends took up the whole house right front row, and I recognized most of the people I saw there, but there was a guy with their group on the end of the aisle who I assumed was someone's father and had come along for the ride. Surely a middle-age man didn't buy a ticket to come to a children's show solo...Melissa and Lamar must know who this guy is, right? Well, apparently, Lamar told me that Melissa had an extra ticket because her mom couldn't come, so she sold it to a guy in the gift shop who was looking at "The Brand New Kid" book. Hmmm...interesting. From my point of view on stage, he seemed to be enjoying himself! Although, when he found out Katie Couric wasn't actually going to be at the show, he was a little disappointed, and Melissa offered to give him his money back. He said that was okay and he would come anyway. What a minute...does that mean I get to quit the show because Katie isn't coming to the reception??? Eh, I guess I'll finish out the run. I'm kind of having a good time. :)

My best friend brought me flowers.
